Early Years

Eisenhower was born on October 14, 1890 in Denison, Texas, but grew up in the small farm town of Abilene, Kansas. He grew up hunting, fishing, and playing sports. In 1911 he earned an appointment to West Point where he played football until a severe knee injury. In 1915 he graduated from West Point and later married Mamie Doud. During WW1 He was denied service but instead commanded a unit that trained tank crews.
