     There is an increasing demand for graphic designers because of how much more our world is becoming technology based. Graphic designers work will continue to be important for a long time, and this type of job isn’t expected to downsize. There is a lot of competition though because a lot of people want this job, but people are chosen based on their creativity, and staying caught up on current design trends. The job outlook from 2018-2028 is predicted to increase 3%, which is slower than the average. Specifically, the job outlook of graphic designers in newspapers, books, and directory publishers is likely to decrease 22%. Companies are starting to become more digital based, so the need for graphic designers in the non-digital world is declining. On the other hand, the outlook of graphic designers in computer system design is estimated to increase 24%. Like mentioned above, the world is more tech-friendly than it was 20 years ago, when graphics were more popular in newspapers compared to the internet today.

     In 2018, the median pay for graphic designers was $50,370 per year, which is $24.21 per hour. The more experience you have, the higher the pay. On the higher end of graphic designing, the average salary can be as high as $85,760. Depending on the field a graphic designer works in, the pay can be more or less than the average salary. The highest paying field in graphic design is advertising, public relations, and related services, with the average pay being $51,380. Compared to that, in the printing and related activities field, designers earn an average pay of $40,170. Printing isn’t needed as much today because of the higher use of technology, so it's logical that this is the lowest paying field.

The other states include California, New York, Texas, and Florida. Continuing, the average pay of graphic designers in Illinois is $56,890. This is a little bit higher than the average pay of graphic designers in the United States ($50,370). The average pay does depend on the company as some pay higher for more important and difficult work.
